I've transcribed data from 75 pages from the Mercantile Navy List so far for CLIP :) Hooray! Soon I hope to post a sample page and description of the project so you can see what it's like.

Due to the snowstorm, work was cancelled today. I spent the day drinking fluids and taking medications because I seem to have caught a bit of a cold since yesterday. I sure hope it goes away fast and doesn't develop into anything else! I'm trying to take it as easy as I can by transcribing a couple more ships and reading more of that book on ( Read more... )

Tonight I did some transcribing. I think I've gotten through 31 pages so far on the new project - 30 pages of steamers and 1 page of sailing ships. The names are fun, and it's always exciting to see some Union-Castle liners that I recognize ( Read more... )

Saturday was spent catching up on household chores. Laundry was done, dishes were washed, radios were relocated, phone was recharged, garbage was taken out, dinner was cooked, etc. At 7:10, I sat down to eat some barbecued pork, a baked potato and green beans and to my pleasant surprise, found that a hockey game was on TV. Spent the evening reading the first four chapters of Daniel, catching up on news with the schooner's captain, and looking forward to the arrival of my new transcribing project. It was mailed from the UK last Tuesday, so I'm hoping that it'll be waiting for me when I get home from work tomorrow.

Just played a rousing chorus of The Bonnie Blue Flag followed by The Battle Cry of Freedom. Huzzah!

Now, CW practice. I'm practicing Moby-Dick somewhere between 25-35 wpm, though I'm not quite sure where. I can't follow along in my head and I can't keep up typing at that rate for more than a word or so at a time, but I can copy pieces at this ( Read more... )
